Four key bills in today’s Emergency Special Session

Here are the four key bills being debated in the Oregon Special Session today.

#1 – School COVID liability protection: Providing liability protection for schools during the COVID pandemic. Would not apply to discrimination or wages lawsuits.

#2 – Restaurant rules. Bill (a) Allowing the sale of to-go cocktails for restaurants (with certain minimum food purchase) and (b) limiting the fees delivery services can charge.

#3 – Renter and rental housing assistance.  This by (a) extending moratorium on residential evictions which expire this month and (b) increase funds for both renter and landlord relief.

#4 – $600 million COVID/wildfire package: Allocate $600 million of current Emergency Board funds to go towards COVID and wildfire projects. This includes; $400 million for testing, contact tracing and vaccine costs; $100 million for Labor Day wildfires relief; and $100 million in other miscellaneous expenses.
