Former State Senator and State Representative Bill Kennemer was appointed by the Clackamas County Commissioners to fill the vacant seat by outgoing State Senator Alan Olsen.   Previously Kennemer was among the final three of a dozen candidates, and won among the final three (John Lee, Alan Bates).

Kennemer said,

“These are very turbulent times in our Legislature, our state and our nation. These very difficult times are a key factor in my decision to seek this appointment. I have a record of experience and success in the legislative process — ten years in the house, ten years in the Senate, and 16 in the minority, My record of successful bipartisan effectiveness, and working across the aisle as well within the aisle for common good, is well established.”
