Jessica Gomez: Open up GOP primary to non-affiliated voters

By Jessica Gomez for Governor
Press Release

The Oregon Republican Party will soon be deciding whether they want to open the May Republican primary to nonaffiliated voters (NAV). I believe the ORP delegates should vote in favor of doing so.

Keep in mind that many NAVs are former Republicans who we need to welcome back to our coalition. Many of them have also been automatically registered as NAVs simply because of the motor voter law.

If we can’t win more NAVs, we will lose this race and give up our best opportunity to send a Republican to the governor’s office in years.

We have an incredible opportunity to make the GOP a big-tent party once again by opening the Republican primary this May. In doing so, we can make the GOP a WINNING party once again, too!

Sincerely,

Jessica Gomez
Republican for Governor
