Raising Congressional Stupidity to an Art Form.

On June 9, 2022, CBSNews – seldom a beacon of truth in journalism – reported:

Carl Paladino, a congressional candidate in New York endorsed by a member of House Republican leadership, said in a newly surfaced 2021 interview that Adolf Hitler was ‘the kind of leader we need today.’

“‘I was thinking the other day about somebody had mentioned on the radio Adolf Hitler and how he aroused the crowds. And he would get up there screaming these epithets and these people were just — they were hypnotized by him,’ Paladino said in a radio clip unearthed by the left leaning media group Media Matters for America,’I guess, I guess that’s the kind of leader we need today. We need somebody inspirational. We need somebody that is a doer, has been there and done it.’”

It is hard to know whether the Republican Party is dumber for having endorsed Mr. Paladino’s candidacy for a congressional seat for New York or the Democrat Party for having nominated and then elected Joe Biden and Kalamata Harris as President and Vice-president respectively. Actually that is a rhetorical question since a single Republican congressman from New York could not – in a lifetime – do the amount of damage to America as the woke Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris have done already in just seventeen months.

Leaving aside the bona fides of Messrs. Biden and Paladino and even Ms. Harris, the fact of the matter is the ranks of morons are rising in elective office at all levels – including the President, Vice-president and members of Congress. There is Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) who looks like a child, speaks like a child and thinks like a child – she is an embarrassment to ingenues everywhere. An article in CBSNews noted:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., says she feared for her life as a violent mob stormed the Capital building last week.

In a lengthy Instagram Live video Tuesday night, Ocasio-Cortez said that she had a ‘very close encounter,’ during which she thought she ‘was going to die.’ She didn’t elaborate on the details, but cited security concerns.

“’I did not know if I was going to make it to the end of that day alive, and not just in a general sense but also in a very, very specific sense,’ the congresswoman said during the hour-long live stream, calling the encounter during the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol ‘traumatizing.’”

Of course CBSNews never checked her assertions – but then it never does. However, a later check by other media outlets confirmed that Ms. Ocasio-Cortez was not even in the Capital the day of the incident but rather was in another building away from the incident.

There is Rep. Marjorie Greene (R-GA) who has blamed the shortage of tampons on government officials requiring their distribution to men’s rooms in public schools. There is Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) who bristles regularly at the unfairness of the country that rescued her from war torn Somalia and who can barely contain her hatred of Jews in general and Israel in particular. And there is Gov. Gretchen Witmer (D-MI) who tried to justify banning motor boats but not sailboats on Michigan’s waterways under COVID mandates.

There is Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) who in a discussion with General Robert Willard expressed his concern that if America deployed additional marines and equipment to Guam that it might tip over. They really don’t come any dumber than that.

Even the bureaucrats get in the mix. The Oregon Forestry Board recently issued sweeping new rules regarding fire hazard ratings that will impose significant economic burdens on rural Oregon. The Board chairman, Jim Kelly is quoted by the East Oregonian as saying:

We have to recognize there will be people and organizations that will continue to push against this and attempt to embarrass the department and related agencies. It will enter into the governor’s race and all that. I think we all need to be prepared.”

Not a single concerns about the burdens imposed by the new rules only a concern that he and his colleagues might be embarrassed.

Look, the list could go on forever – a whole volume could be filled with the pronouncements of Gov. Kate Brown (D-OR) and the entire leadership of the hapless Portland Mayor and City Commission. Stupidity, hypocrisy, inconsistency and plain old lying abound, but even at that the comments of Mr. Paladino may take the cake for stupidity and cultural denseness.

There are heroic men and women who have in difficult times raised their oratorical skills to urge their fellow man to greater heights – Winston Churchill, Ronald Reagan, Joan D’Arc, Martin Luther King, Jr., Mahatma Gandhi and now Volodymyr Zelenskyy to name a few. There are also the pariahs of humanity who have used hate, divisiveness, fear and violence to move the worst of men to bigotry, torture and murder – Adolph Hitler, Fidel Castro, the entire leadership of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Mao Zedong, and Joseph Stalin to name a few. Why anyone in America would seize upon Adolph Hitler as a man who could inspire the masses is beyond the pale.

It is not like someone stumbles into lionizing Adolph Hitler. It’s not a slip of the lip. You either actually consider Hitler as a great leader, or you are so ignorant of history you have overlooked the nearly 20 million people, including 12 million Jews who were murdered by Hitler and his Nazi thugs. Either case should disqualify someone from holding public office. And while you cannot prevent someone from running from public office because of their ignorant beliefs, the vice-chairman of the House Republican Conference, Rep. Elise Stefanik need not rush to endorse Mr. Paladino’s candidacy.

The 2022 primary election in New York begins on June 28 and continues through August 23 – yes, it’s one of those states dominated by Democrats who have insured that it remains a one party state by using the charade of vote by mail – the easiest method to manipulate the outcome. The only good thing that can be said about this year’s New York primary is that there is still time for Ms. Stefanik – and more importantly the other members of the House Republican Leadership to denounce Mr. Paladino in no uncertain terms and leave the voters of the 23rd District to make a decisions for themselves. And while Mr. Paladino is vying for President Donald Trump’s endorsement let us hope that saner advisors put a stake through the heart of that request.

There are people that we all admire that were not saints, but if the person you admire is an apostle of the Devil, you probably should reconsider your own morality.
