School board mom petitions against tampons in boy bathrooms

By NW Spotlight,

Eagle Point School board member Cherylene Stritenberg has petitioned the Oregon Department of Education to change the new law requiring menstrual products to be included in all school bathrooms.    Stritenberg was cited in the press saying “Don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to making these products available, but requiring we divert funds from our State School Funds to ensure they are included specifically in boys’ bathrooms is a misuse of those funds. My hope is that we can re-evaluate and come to a better solution that is financially responsible and beneficial to those who need it”.

Stritenberg has stressed the need that the funds could be better used for school supplies and textbooks.

Funding for the program is $5 million.
