The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) decided to use the time between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day week to ask people to submit their opinion on tolling Interstate 5 and Interstate 405.

The Willamette Week states,”ODOT Wants to Know What You Think About Paying to Drive on I-5 and I-205. The agency’s public comment period ends Jan. 6th…The broad policy questions of how much to charge drivers and how to use the proceeds remain unresolved”

ODOT hasn’t laid out how much it could cost.  One outside estimate is between $2.00 to $8.00 a day for many commuters.

ODOT will not be building anything with the tolls, but rather asking drivers to pay for the road they already have (despite having top 10 nation’s highest gas tax and top 10 nation’s highest auto fees).

As stated, ODOT has solicited publci input at the single worst time of the year.   Friday January 5th, 2023 is supposed to be the last day to share your thoughts.

If you have opinions please go here.

Please tell ODOT what you think of tolling I-5 and I-205.
