Murder declines nationwide … but not Portland

By Taxpayers Association of Oregon Foundation,

“I’ve found something that I’ve never seen before and that probably has not happened in decades: strong evidence of a sharp and broad decline in the nation’s murder rate.”

That’s according to Jeff Asher, writing in The Atlantic.

But, it seems Portland is one major city has not seen such a decline. The most recent data show that Portland is on track to meet or surpass last year’s 96 homicides.

It’s not just murders. SafeHome.org reports Portland is in the top three cities for larceny and auto theft.

All the best.
