Photo: Why 3 Target stores closed in Portland

As three Portland Target  stores have closed this year, we offer a photo of one Portland Target store at the laundry detergent isle to show how much things have changed.

Each detergent pod bag was covered in a locked glass box to be unlocked at the counter. The whole isle looked deserted, like they did not supply enough or that some was stolen.  A shoplifting surge is what most businesses said was the top reason they were leaving Portland (REI, Walmart, Target).

Here is how Multnomah compares to the two counties around it on prosecuting shoplifting.

Also, Portland area politicians passed two big business taxes in the past 5 years.
