Carmen Rubio joins 3-way PDX Mayor race

By Oregon Campaign Watch,

Portland City Commissioner, Carmen Rubio, has announced her run for Portland Mayor being left open by Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler who decided to not run again in 2024. Two other Portland City Commissioners, Mingus Mapps and Rene Gonzalez, have also filed to run. This pits three sitting City Commissioners against each other in a high-stakes race.

She is quoted, ”We’re turning the page on government, so I think it’s also a time to turn the page on divisive politics and on broken systems and finger pointing. I feel like it requires someone who’s a pragmatic thinker, who’s a collaborative leader and basically a no-drama mayor who really just wants to keep focus on the work we need to do and be relentless about moving us forward.”
