Rep. Maxine Dexter steps down

By Oregon Campaign Watch,

Oregon State Representative Maxine Dexter (House #33), who won the Democrat Primary for the Congressional 3rd District  has announced that she is stepping down as a way to prepare for her expected win to Congress.

Dexter said, “After much consideration, I have decided to resign from my position. With the next Legislative session beginning in January, I want to provide as much of an onramp as I can for the next Representative of House District 33, and allow them to hire staff, prepare their bills, and be ready to hit the ground running on January 21st.”

Dexter said it will be effective on Aug. 31, 2024.   This means a nomination process will likely begin with local precinct people for a replacement to fill in the less-than-100 day gap.
