Oregon Governor Tina Kotek spent $200,000 of taxpayer dollars hiring a consulting firm named Deloitte to put on a one-day mental-health conference that heavily featured Kotek’s wife. The $200,000 conference had only 43 attendees (15 of whom were from either Deloitte or Kotek’s Office).

The Oregonian further notes, “Just over half the money the state paid Deloitte – $107,822 – went toward their preparation and research for and coordination of the event. The state spent the other portion – $92,000 – to have Deloitte produce a 14-page “after action report” following the event that was provided to participants and presented to a legislative committee. Emails show it took three months and significant staff time from members of the governor’s office to finalize that report. When the report was presented to the committee in May, there was virtually no substantive discussion about it or the follow up action it proposed.”

This comes as the Oregon Ethics Commission decided to not investigate further (and interview more people) over the Kotek wife controversy.

Willamette Week reported on lobbying issues around Governor Kotek’s spouse over health care.
