Rep. Helfrich: Response to more non-citizen voters, audit news

House Republicans Respond to Even More Non-Citizens Found on Voter Rolls, Audit Announcement

By Oregon House Republican Caucus,

SALEM, Ore. – House Republican members of the Committee on Rules, House Republican Leader Jeff Helfrich (R-Hood River) and Representative Anna Scharf (R-Amity), released the following statements after Gov. Kotek initiated an external review of the Oregon voter rolls after more ineligible voters were discovered as being registered in the state.

“By agreeing to an external audit, Democrats have conceded that something is systemically wrong with Oregon’s automatic voter registration system. House Republicans welcome this audit, as we have called for it since the onset of this scandal. Every effort must be made to complete it and remove all ineligible voters from the rolls before the November election. Oregonians deserve safe, secure elections,” said Leader Helfrich.

“Both the Secretary of State’s office and the Department of Motor Vehicles assured voters there were no more issues to be found, but again they were wrong. They also assured voters nothing would impact the 2024 election; how are voters to be sure they are not wrong about that also?” said Rep. Scharf. “What is clear is that there are major flaws in the Motor Voter system. Yes, we should have an independent audit, but there should also be an investigation performed into possible violations of the law”
