Sec-State chased fluff during vote scandal

The Elections Division of the Secretary of State is under big media fire and Legislative criticism for ignoring the growing number of unlawful voters who were not citizens.  The numbers grew over time.  There have been criticism of their office keeping it from the public.

While this happened our Secretary of State’s office has been ambitious on other things.

Like … spending $350,000 for a cartoon character telling people to vote.

The $350,000 would have been better be spent on cleaning up our voter rolls.

The Secretary of State also sent out emails celebrating Mother’s Day (emoji we inserted).

The Secretary of State also celebrated Star Wars Day.

The Secretary of State also spent a lot of taxpayer money and manpower on a report calling for a better marijuana business climate in Oregon.   It demanded that Oregon government spend tax dollars promoting Oregon pot nationwide.

The Secretary of State also spent taxpayer dollars and manpower on a report lobbying to RAISE PROPERTY TAXES by repealing the mortgage interest deduction.   The report falsely claims that by raising property taxes (end mortgage deduction) it will help minority communities, when in fact, minority home-ownership is higher in mortgage interest states than those without it.  Our tax dollars are being used to both lobby legislation and lie to the public.   How much $$ should government spend lobbying to the public?   We say ZERO!!!

Oregon’s Secretary of State needs a dramatic turn-around in focus.  They need to fix our election rolls, eliminate fraud, and re-build public confidence.
