3 socialist stars win Portland seats (their agenda)

Out of some 100 candidates running for 12 open Portland City Commissioner seats, the Portland Democratic Socialist Party only selected 7 for endorsement — they have high standards.  Three of those seven who were endorsed won; Mitch Green, Sameer Kanal and Tiffany Koyama Lane.   This means their agenda was so far Leftist, that they won the hearts of Portland’s devoted socialists.  Tiffany Koyama Lane’s #1 fundraiser was the uber-liberal Working Party PAC of Oregon.

Leave it to the Taxpayers Association of Oregon to do a little research into where these socialist celebrities stood on the issues.  We de-code it for our readers.

Here is Sameer Kanal’s Voter Pamphlet Statement:

Kaneer wants “Infrastructure for all”.  Who knew that the new human right is the right to infrastructure.   Kaneer calls for  Green New Deal which would be a massive government spending bonanza on transportation — but not on new roads as he favors not expanding lanes to fix the Rose Quarter traffic crisis.  He also favors ELIMINATING roads when he pledges to “designate more of our streets as car-free”.  So expect more government spending to reduce roads.

He also calls for the “Albina I-5 Lid” which is putting housing on top of the Interstae-5 Highway.

Kaneer favors “social housing” which is government subsidized homes.   After Oregon spent a billion dollars on brand new government subsidized homes and affordability projects since 2018, we find ourselves as among the nation’s worst housing costs.  Now Kaneer, believes maybe a billion more in government spending would work where a billion failed before.

Here is Tiffany Koyama Lane’s Voter Pamphlet Statement:

Tiffany Koyama Lane wants to stop “traffic violence” which a new word to describe when cars injure bikers and pedestrian.  Noble cause.  Yet, it was liberal Portland during Covid that suspended police from enforcing minor traffic violations in the name of equity.  Pulling cops from the streets caused Portland to have record high traffic deaths.  So, if Portland wishes to reduce traffic deaths — they should do the exact opposite of what liberals/socialists recommend.

Tiffany Koyama Lane wants to protect our homes from “extreme weather”.  For many years, liberals condemned and worked against air conditioners, then Oregon was hit by two killer heat waves creating record breaking heat deaths.  After the deaths, Portland changed their mind on air conditioners and then pledged to hand-out 15,000 free air conditioners at government expense.   While Portland is mass gifting air conditioners, the Biden administration is working to limit them through tough regulations.  Even though Portland is giving away 15,000 air conditioners, is not enough for Lane because her website pledges to “Expand access to free air conditioning”.  So even MORE free air conditioners!!!

When it comes to cold deaths, Portland and Oregon was so disastrous in handling the recent 2024 blizzard that we listed 11 government blunders in handling the snow storm.    One of the big blunders was Portland’s refusal to let people cut down aging trees, which proved to be a dud because the trees they so tried to protect would all come down during a winter blast — destroying homes and cars.

Socialism and liberal policies are making weather problems worse — not better.

Tiffany Koyama Lane wants more public dollars for infrastructure.  Part of her infrastructure plan is to block oil trains from coming in Portland. She calls it tank-the-tanks.

Here is Mitch Green’s Voter Pamphlet Statement:

Mitch Green wants to expand the Portland Street Response (PSR) which is where government helps sends people out to problematic and criminal homeless situations, instead of police.   PSR helps give homeless free clothes, food and cigarettes.   OPB reported on PSR “Firefighters also told researchers that they felt that Portland Street Response was “enabling” homelessness by handing out food, clothing, sanitary items and other basic supplies to clients. … an unidentified firefighter told researchers, “it seems like they’re just giving stuff away to a group of people that we predominantly view as just taking and not giving back to society.”  Soclialists call PSR a success, but homelessness has only increased since PSR was put into effect.

Green was endorsed by the Bernie PAC, Jane Fonda Climate PAC and Working Families PAC which was his #1 contributor.
