Man tests Portland with walk through. Is it safe?

You Tube influencer, The Rope Monster, did a walk through the City of Portland to see what it was really like. His video shows how much Portland has recovered and improved. He notes how there are only a few homeless tents on the streets — instead of entire rows of encampments just two years ago.  Humorously, he does mention that it still smells like pot while waking outdoors.

It cannot be escaped that as the man is praising Portland in his own video, there are entire blocks of boarded up businesses in defensive fortress-mode due to the election.

As Portland has improved, it must be noted that it looks better because local businesses paid a huge fee for private/public clean-up service. The State of Oregon had to send Portland nearly 10 million to clean-up the City, which means, the rest of the State had to bail out Portland’s mess. Portland had to bribe local businesses with quarter million individual tax credits to keep businesses from leaving.  Portland had the nation’s largest job loss last year. So, this progress from Portland came at an extreme cost.
