Rep. Yunker: protest over removal

WITH ONE WEEK UNTIL SESSION, YUNKER SLAMS POLITICAL REMOVAL AND VOWS TO FIGHT FOR OREGONIANS

By Oregon State Representative Dwayne Yunker

GRANTS PASS, Ore. – With Oregon’s 2025 Legislative Session set to begin in one week, Rep. Dwayne Yunker (R-Grants Pass) announced his committee assignments while criticizing Oregon House Speaker Julie Fahey for removing him from the House Behavioral Health and Health Care Committee in what he called a transparent political ploy.

Yunker’s committee assignments include:

  • House Committee on Economic Development, Small Business, and Trade
  • House Committee on Higher Education & Workforce Development
  • Joint Ways and Means Subcommittee on Education

“These committees reflect my commitment to making Oregon affordable and creating opportunities for families and businesses,” Yunker said. “But let’s be honest—my removal from the Health Care Committee against my expressed wishes wasn’t about policy. It was about silencing my efforts to rein in the Oregon Health Authority’s Medicare for All scheme and OHSU’s radical agenda, including their so-called ‘transgender health program.’ This move won’t deter me.”

Rep. Yunker emphasized another key priority for the 2025 session: election integrity. “This session, I am introducing a handful of bills to ensure Oregon complies with federal elections laws and restores confidence in our democratic process. I will also be working directly with federal officials to ensure Oregon prioritizes transparency, accountability, and security in how elections are run.”

In addition to election integrity, Yunker highlighted his ongoing collaboration with federal agencies to tackle other critical issues facing Oregonians. “I’ve gone directly to the EPA, U.S. Forest Service, DOJ, and HHS because state leaders are failing Oregonians,” said Yunker. “With the Trump administration returning, I now expect real responsiveness and accountability.”

Regardless of committee assignments, Yunker pledged to keep fighting for Oregonians. “My focus remains on the issues that matter most—affordability, opportunity, transparency, and ensuring free and fair elections. Oregon has unmatched geography, climate, and people. With sound leadership and compliance with federal law, we can unleash the potential of our great state.”

He also criticized state leaders for prioritizing partisan agendas over solutions. “The Democrats can play games with committee assignments, but they can’t stop me from advocating for the people of Oregon. The fight is just beginning.”
