Senate Bill 697 makes it illegal to sell a firearm to adults under 21

BILL WATCH: Oregon Senate Bill 697 has been introduced which would make it illegal for a gun store or person to sell a firearm to someone under 21.

Senate Bill 697 summary reads, “Prohibits a person under 21 years of age from possessing firearms with specified exceptions. Punishes by a maximum of 364 days’ imprisonment, a fine of up to $6,250, or both. Prohibits a person from transferring certain firearms to a recipient the person knows, or reasonably should know, is under 21 years of age. Punishes by a maximum of 364 days’ imprisonment, a fine of up to $6,250, or both. Specifies exceptions.” 

The bill authors are 6 lawmakers; State Senator Reynolds (D), State Senator Floyd Prozanski (D), State Senator James Manning Jr. (D), State Representatives Mcdonald, Grayer (D),  Representative Jason Kropf (D), Representative Ricki Ruiz (D).
