Big Salem anti-Trump rally gets weird, hostile

Anti-Trump protests were held around the country and also in Salem where hundreds gathered to call to impeach Trump, jail Trump, arrest Elon Musk, deport Elon Musk, stop DOGE (Dept. of Government Efficiency), end deportations and stop what they call “the coup”.   By calling to stop DOGE the crowd was calling for an end to investigating and eliminating government waste, fraud and abuse.

There were calls for a state-wide general workers strike.

Here are some photos we took during the protest.

Here is a person who waved a “Honk if you hate I.C.E.” sign. (ICE = Immigration Custom Enforcement)

As in a previous anti-Trump rally a few weeks ago, there were “Abolish ICE” signs calling to get rid of immigration enforcement altogether.

Here are two signs that say,  “Trump for prison” and “Hands off Panama Canal” (which means the United States should not be concerned that Panama likely violated our joint treaty on the foreign operation clause by allowing a Communist nation to be involved in managing both entrances to the canal).

This protester had a sign that appeared to read “Save a life. Punch a Nazi.”   This fits with other protesters calling President Trump, immigration enforcement, Elon Musk and everyone else they disagree with as Nazis.   Therefore, the message is that you are justified in committing physical violence against people you disagree with.   No wonder Trump suffered two assassination attempts.  No wonder Oregonians often get hurt at these liberal protests.

Next to that “punch Nazi” sign was yet another “Chinga La Migra” sign which is Spanish for “F**k the Immigration Dept.”

An Oregonian article on the protest had a snippet of these two signs, “fascism arrived in America in a red cap” and “Everyone is illegal on stolen land”

There was even a call to love Canada.
