The City of Portland is having a hard time filling the top spot for the Portland Bureau of Development Services because the City has frightened applicants away due to their crime and drug image.  The job pays $173,000 and $251,000 annually.

The Oregonian reports, that the reason the Bureau of Development Services hiring is so bad is that Portland’s “…tarnished national reputation of the last few years coupled with a steep slowdown in construction that’s strained the bureau’s budget had led to a “below-normal-sized applicant pool.”

Tarnished national reputation.

This is what you get with a progressive political utopia — high taxes, high crime.

Consider these sights that reflect a liberal dysfunction city:

#1. Entire blocks of boarded up windows during the 2024 election because rioting was so out of control.

#2. This single drug use photo showcases many problems

#3. City stopped garbage sweeping

#4. Crime is so rampant that car-ramming front doors of businesses is a common way to loot.  Here is a former REI store in Portland that was rammed right before the big shopping day pm Black Friday.  Now the store left Portland.

#5. Homeless dig underground tunnels to build secret homeless kingdoms under bridges.
(Photo below shows how firefighters had to bust holes in walls to stop the fires inside)

#6. Portland gets ridiculed by others.
