Rep. Neron appointed to open Senate seat

Oregon State Representative County Neron has been chosen to fill the remaining term of late Oregon Senator Arron Woods. Oregon Capital Chronicle broke the news of Neron moving up to the Senate, as County Commissioners chose her from Clackamas, Washington, and Yamhill County. Due to her appointment to the Senate, Democrats must restart the appointment process to fill the now-vacant representative seat.

This move comes as a shock, leaving an open seat on the House floor where a Democratic supermajority will remain broken until an appointment is made. The supermajority control was already shaky due to the State representative Hoa Nguyen (D-Portland), who is receiving treatment for stage four cancer. This appointment will solidify her for running in Senate District 13, giving her a slight incumbency advantage. Now the new question is, who will the Democrats appoint as her replacement for her House seat?
