Oregon ICE arrests +300%

Since President Donald Trump took office on Jan. 20, immigration arrests in Oregon have tripled but still remain lower than elsewhere in the nation, according to Willamette Week. During the first six months of the year, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 180 people, up 320 percent from 2024, propelling Oregon into the group of 15 states that saw arrests triple.

The arrests would be even more if it wasn’t for local law enforcement blocking ICE efforts.

In June 2025, the Lane County Sheriff confirmed that, following Oregon law, the agency had informed ICE “eight times this year” that they were unable to assist or share information regarding immigration enforcement. The official 2025 Sanctuary Promise Legislative Report indicated that multiple agencies throughout Oregon received 78 ICE requests for cooperation targeting individuals over the past year, most of which were formally declined as mandated by law.
