Governor Kotek says Oregon State Government cannot keep you safe if you do not pass her billion dollar gas tax/wage tax plan. At the same time, our state and local tax dollars are being used to fund corporate welfare for Portland’s failed hotels and restaurants.

Politicians spent over $70 million in tax subsidies to build a private luxury Hyatt hotel for the convention center that only lasted one year before changing hands.

Millions of tax dollars were spent for a massive luxury Ritz-Carlton hotel which lasted one year before entering into bankruptcy.  The food court attached to the luxury hotel also received tax subsidies.

State lawmakers in 2025 just authorized $10 million to build a mega-restaurant in downtown Portland.  As Portland raised taxes on restaurants (causing many closures), the same politicians look to the rest of the State to bail them out by pouring tax dollars into new restaurants.

Also, State lawmakers gave a Portland non-profit $3 million to spend on festivals.
