MultCo Chair won’t re-run. Creates big showdown

Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson announced that she won’t run for re-election. As Oregon’s largest county, this position is one of the most powerful in the state.  This is why when the current Chair, Pederson, re-ran last time, she still attracted three major contenders to challenge her.  Now that the seat will be open, expect a tripling of contenders.  If current Portland lawmakers or city councilors decided to run, this will create even more open seats to replace them.  It could be a cascading effect of open seats and a new power dynamic.
