Worst season in 40 years

A local business on Mt. Hood has said they had experienced the worst season in 40 years.

At the same time, one of the closest super-markets to Mt. Hood’s Government Camp has gone out of business.

The unusually dry season has hurt business.

While nature is wounding local business, so are the lawyers.  Timberline Lodge in Oregon is facing a staggering 586% increase in liability insurance costs since 2020.

In 2025 alone, the resort has seen an alarming rise of 166%, with deductibles soaring tenfold. This dramatic escalation stems from a 2014 state Supreme Court ruling that rendered liability waivers mostly unenforceable, forcing the resort to increase ticket prices.  Insurers have left Oregon over this.   Outdoor activity organizations (vulnerable to liability of their tours) have left over this.
