There is a common theme around the Legislature that Oregon needs to improve its business climate and to do so quickly. Manufacturing has been an Oregon industry that has fallen behind national trends. One proposal being offered, Senate Bill 1586, would expand property tax credits for tech companies from a maximum $90 million cap to $180 million.  This might allow more data centers to take advantage of these tax credits.  It is these data centers that have been under fire for requiring too much electricity upon an already reduced energy supply.
