Here are six bad bills that were either introduced or had hearings on the first week of the February Legislative Session:

SB 1599 swaps gas tax referendum.   SB 1599 has been officially authored, as it aims to move the gas tax referendum from the popular November General Election and then placed in the May Primary where voter turn-out is 60% less.

SB 1507 is $400M backdoor tax on businesses.  SB 1507 helps disconnect Oregon from two of Trump’s 2025 tax cuts.

HB 4098 makes it easier to sue businesses into oblivion.  HB 4098 expands the Unlawful Trade Practices Act which means more people can sue more businesses.

HB 4134: 83% hotel tax hike to fund wildlife.  HB 4134 raises the hotel lodging tax by 83% to fund wildlife programs.

HB 4125: Kicker theft bill.  HB 4125 changes the formula for how a Kicker Income Tax Refund is calculated — therefore producing lesser returns for taxpayers and more money to state government.

HB 4145: Gun bureaucracy bill.  HB 4145 greatly expands the cost (double) and time (double) allotted to get a permit.

This is a horrible start to the February Special Session.

Stay tuned on developments regarding these bills (HB 1599, SB 1507, HB 4098, HB 4134, HB 4125, HB 4145) on this website and OregonWatchdog.com.
