Kotek +200% tax giveaways for data centers (energy sucking, no jobs)

The Oregonian reports that Governor Kotek is trying to double the tax giveaways to data centers by extending their duration to an entire decade.  The bill is HB 4084.

Here is the problem:

• Oregon’s electric grid is maxed out and expecting blackouts.  One of the biggest consumers of electricity are data centers.

• Data centers consume huge amounts of water.  A single large data center in a single day takes as much as an entire city of 50,000 people.

• Data centers employ few people.  A medium size data center might have 15 employees.  Why are we extending tens of millions in tax breaks to employ so few people?
