Oregon’s no bar idea catching on across nation

Oregon has moved to remove the esteemed bar exam qualification for lawyers. Starting in May of this year, graduates from an approved ABA-accredited law school can instead pass a Supervised Practice Portfolio Examination (SPPE).

The idea has now been embraced by Washington State with four other states, Nevada, Utah, South Dakota and Minnesota debating the move.   Washington allows for apprenticeship training over testing.
