She Chooses Joy Instead of Competence

One of the most difficult assignments is to critique nothing. But that is apparently what I am being asked to do – critique the Democrat National Convention (DNC) and the coronation of its presidential candidate for the 2024 election.

For those of you who were forced to endure a teachers union led primary and secondary education in the Portland Public Schools, there was little history but a lot of histrionics afoot at the DNC. Really, we’ve read this novel and seen this screen play before. Shakespeare chronicled this assassination in his play Julius Caesar. Wikipedia encapsulates the story thusly:

Julius Caesar was assassinated by a group of senators on the Ides of March (15 March) of 44 BC during a meeting of the Senate at the Curia of Pompey of the Theatre of Pompey in Rome where the senators stabbed Caesar 23 times. They claimed to be acting over fears that Caesar’s unprecedented concentration of power during his dictatorship was undermining the Roman Republic. At least 60 to 70 senators were party to the conspiracy, led by Marcus Junius Brutus, Gaius Cassisus Longiius, and Decimus Junius Brutus Albinus. Despite the death of Caesar, the conspirators were unable to restore the institutions of the Republic. The ramifications of the assassination led to his martyrdom, the Liberator’s civil war and ultimately to the Principate period of the Roman Empire.

Really, it was all there folks. A couple of self-serving politicians (Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), and former President Barack Obama all claiming to be acting to “save democracy by stabbing the existing President Joe Biden (who is also a self-serving phony claiming to “save democracy”) in the back multiple times.

And then there is the story of Cinderella who rose from scullery maid to wedding the prince of the realm. She did it all by “wishing on a star.” Similarly Ms. Harris rose from a failed presidential primary in 2020 in which she captured zero delegates and could not even capture the votes of her own state, and what has been termed the worst vice-president in history, to capturing the 2024 presidential primary without capturing a single delegate. A woman who could not or would not learn the elements of the many problems confronting her country. A woman that was given to word salad rather than cohesive recommendations. A failed politician who stood steadfast with Mr. Biden and smiled while he made empty promise after empty promise anointing her as the person in charge, only to disappear behind the White House drapes when the camera lights were turned off. And she did it all by being “joyous.”

So the DNC was organized to “reintroduce” Ms. Harris since she never took the opportunity to introduce herself. To this date we have nothing of record the defines Ms. Harris’ position on issues. Well, yes, there are her far left “me too’s” from the 2020 primaries as she echoed without understanding the socialist principles embraced by Sen. Bernie Sanders (Socialist-VT). And there is embrace of the Green New Deal as announced by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) but she could never get the dance steps down for the video.

When Ms. Harris was asked herself to define her principles, she dug deep into her Jamaican roots and adopted what she believed to be Bob Marley’s paean to happiness Don’t Worry, Be Happy and announced that hers was a campaign of JOY. While Mr. Marley never actually wrote or recorded the song, it’s Jamaican beat would have confused Ms. Harris as it does everyone else. At any rate the lyrics of the song – particularly the third verse reflect the indolent nature of the songs attitude:

Ain’t got no cash, ain’t got no style
Ain’t got no gal to make you smile
But don’t worry, be happy
‘Cause when you worry your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
So don’t worry, be happy
Don’t worry, be happy now”

It ranks right up there with other daydreamers songs like the Beatles Give Peace a Chance and The Rascals It’s a Beautiful Morning.

In the end, Ms. Harris has no principles, no goals (other than to be President), and no insights into the problems facing America – particularly after a four year term led by Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris. She is just . . . well, Joyous. Cold comfort as we face inflation, an illegal immigration invasion, a series of regional conflicts (Ukraine, Israel v. Islamists, China (both as to its ambitions in the South China Sea and is territorial and growing economic conflict with India) and a mess in South America as socialism and civil war continues.

But the most troubling thins about this is we have just witnessed a term when no one was in charge – it was rule by committee. It reminded me of the days of the Soviet Union where it was governed by a Politburo until the strongest and the most ruthless won out and became a dictator for a period of time. Mr. Biden had his politburo and it is likely to continue under Ms. Harris if she should win. But Ms. Harris – as told by her staff members – is a divisive factor and not a conciliator like Mr. Biden.

And while nothing prevailed at the DNC there was an event the next day that is significantly more telling about Ms. Harris and the current Democrat cabal. On Friday, Robert F Kennedy, Jr. announced the suspension of independent campaign and the withdrawal of ballot qualifications in the ten “swing states.” Mr. Kennedy’s statement is self explanatory and available in total on You Tube. Following is my excerpt of the critical comments:

“As you know, I left that party in October because it had departed so dramatically from the core values that I grew up with. It had become the party of war, censorship, corruption, big pharma, big tech, big AG, and big money.

“When it abandoned democracy by canceling the primary to conceal the cognitive decline of the sitting president, I left the party to run as an independent. The mainstream of American politics and journalism derided my decision. Conventional wisdom said that it would be impossible even to get on the ballot as an independent, because each state imposes an insurmountable tangle of arbitrary rules for collecting signatures. I would need over a million signatures: something no presidential candidate in history had ever achieved. And then I’d need a team of attorneys and millions of dollars to handle all the legal challenges from the DNC. The naysayers told us we were climbing a glass version of Mt. Impossible.

“In an honest system, I believe that I would have won the election. In the system that my father and uncle thrived in. A system with open debates, with fair primaries and with a truly independent media untainted by government propaganda and censorship, and a system of nonpartisan courts, and election boards, everything would be different. After all, the polls consistently showed me beating each of the other candidates, both in favorability and in head-to-head matchups. But I’m sorry to say that while democracy may still be alive, at the grassroots, it has become little more than a slogan for our political institutions, for our media, and for our government, and most sadly at all, for me, for the Democratic Party.

“In the name of saving democracy, a Democratic Party set itself to dismantle it. [Emphasis supplied] Lacking confidence that its candidate could win a fair election at the voting booth, the DNC waged continual legal warfare against both President Trump and myself. Each time that our volunteers turned in those towering boxes of the signatures needed to get on the ballot the DNC dragged us into court, state after state, attempting to erase their work, and to subvert the will of the voters who had signed those petitions. It deployed DNC-aligned judges to throw me and other candidates off the ballot and to throw President Trump in jail. It ran a sham primary that was rigged to prevent any serious challenge to President Biden. Then, when a predictably awful debate performance precipitated a palace coup against President Biden, the same shadowy DNC operatives appointed his successor, also without an election. They installed a candidate who was so unpopular with voters that she dropped out in 2020 without winning a single delegate.

“What most alarms me isn’t how the Democratic Party conducts its internal affairs or runs its candidates. What alarms me is the resort to censorship, media control, and weaponization of the federal agencies. When a U.S. president colludes with, or outright coerces, media companies to censor political speech, it’s an attack on our most sacred right of free expression. And that’s the very right upon which all of our other constitutional rights rest.

The American electorate faces a difficult problem: a competent manager with an impossible ego vs. a “joyous” incompetent with a mean spirit wherein she blames others for her own refusal to learn. God Save America.
