Oregonian headline makes light of CEO murder

The Oregonian ran a Washington Post story but used this headline “For some, CEO’s slaying was a chance to vent about insurance”.

No, it is not a “chance to vent”.  No. No. No.

Assassinating an innocent man in public is not the opportunity to let people vent why the murder was justified.

Even the New York Times was able to put it into better perspective:

If someone murders the CEO of a news company or a political candidate, it would be a moral crime to run a story indicating that it is a time for people to vent on how much they hate the news or how much they hated the candidate’s politics.

Oregon is boiling with self-justified violence.  One Oregon government employee made an online joke about the assassination attempt of President Trump.   Anotehr Oregon government employee wished death threats to Trump supporters after the election.

There were three Oregon-related death threats over Congress in a single week.

In conclusion, there are ways to form a headline that reflects the public anger over the victim’s occupation.  Using “a chance to vent” is not one of them.
