Portland thief steals leg from cancer-stricken teen

Once again, national news is focusing on tragic Portland stories.  This time it is a teen struggling with bone cancer.  He had his car broken into, including the trunk.  His $7,000 custom-made prosthetic leg and work items were stolen. Car break-ins are rampant in Portland.

This is a reminder that in 2017 Oregon lawmakers reduced the penalty for stealing property.   They like to say that stealing property doesn’t really hurt people as much because it is just property.  This story begs to differ.
