The Tuesday Night Election Night results from the Oregon May Primary are in and include some small wins for taxpayers.

#1. The Tillamook hotel tax (#29-183) is heading for defeat.  This was a 30% tax increase that brought a united opposition — including the Taxpayers Association of Oregon.

#2. The Mt Hood Community College Bond (#26-258) asking for money for pool luxuries and a DEI-type office was defeated. The Taxpayers Association of Oregon led the opposition.

#3. The massive $1.8 billion Portland School Bond (#26-259) was almost defeated by 3%. This was despite heavy support and spending by the pro-side which flooded the district with mailings. Media criticism and a handful of Voter Argument opposition (including Taxpayers Association) made an impact.

#4. The massive $400 million Tigard school bond (34-342) is too close to call.  The Taxpayers Association of Oregon was the only Voter Pamphlet opposition.

#5. Voters in North Bend soundly rejected (#6-221) measure removing voter approval for fee increases.

Smaller wins:  Local measures failed including Hubbard gas tax, and multiple parks/rec type bond from North Bend, Polk County, Madras went down to defeat.

Despite those ballot measure wins, there was big setbacks in school board races for pro-parents rights/ pro-taxpayer candidates.

If you value the fact that the Taxpayers Association of Oregon was the * ONLY * opposition or leading opposition to property taxes on 2025 ballot ballot that failed and saved taxpayers hundreds of millions, then please support us with a contribution.
