#1. Border Czar to flood Portland.  U.S. Border Czar Tom Homan said last week, “We’ve got 10,000 more agents coming on, we’re going to flood the zone,” and “You’re going to see a ramp up of operations in New York. You’re going to see a ramp up of operations continue in L.A. and, you know, Portland, Seattle. I mean, all these sanctuary cities refuse to work with ICE … we’re going to address that.”. ICE has been offering $50,000 hiring bonuses for new agents as part of its budget expansion from $8 billion to $28 billion.

#2.  Trump says he will “wipe out” Portland rioters.  President Trump said this week, “And when we go there, if we go to Portland, we’re going to wipe them out,” and “They’re going to be gone, and they’re going to be gone bad. They won’t even stand the fight. They will not stay there. They’re ruined. They’ve ruined that city. “What they’ve done to that city, it’s like living in hell,”

#3. Portland Mayor says no help needed.  Portland Mayor Keith Wilson said, “I have not asked for — and do not need — federal intervention.”  Yet the record shows:

• Multiple law enforcement personnel have been injured during the recent Portland ICE riots.
• Nearby residents have been assaulted
• 3 independent journalists have been assaulted.
• The nearby school has closed due to the riots.
• Police are unable to enforce open law breaking that is going on nightly.
• Residents nearby cannot open their windows because of both the tear gas used as riot control and also the large volume of smoke bombs used by protesters.
• Local shops are losing business as the riots damage windows and chase away customers.
• Anti-ICE Protesters shut down Portland Mayor’s recent public speech and forced him to leave the area.  Free speech is being attacked in public.
• Law enforcement officials have had their names, addresses and family photos of family members posted online.

#4. Multnomah County Chair Jessica Vega Pederson said there is no crime problemChair Jessica Vega Pederson said,“crime has been trending downward overall for multiple years.”

Crime is down in Portland because it spiked during Covid to record highs.

Also, defunding police, which Portland did, tends to reduce crime data because there are fewer officers to track the data and also because fewer officers mean fewer responses to 911 calls.

#5. Congresswoman Janelle Bynum also said there is no crime problem in Portland despite the riots.  Bynum said of Trump, “should deploy people to where there is real problems” and “Quit wasting their time and the country’s money to play cops and robbers”

How our list of criminal lawlessness not a “real problem”?

We re-list this parade of horribles.

#6. Portland called out the National Guard against rioters in July and November in 2020.  Then Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, used National Guard troops to quell rioters on multiple occasions.  Why not now.
