In the coming days ahead the Oregon legislature is set to vote on a billion dollar gas tax/wage tax hike.   Just as that happens Oregon suffered the nation’s highest gas price increase due to a refinery issue that will last a week or two.

AA reports, “Gas prices in the West Coast states are soaring due to refinery issues in Puget Sound and California, and reports of an outage at the Olympic Pipeline…The Oregon average jumps 16 cents to $4.14 a gallon. This is the biggest week-over-week jump for a state in the nation and the highest price for the Oregon average since June 2024.”

This shows how high and vulnerable Oregon gas prices are.  Now, Governor Kotek wishes to add a higher gas tax increase — by 15%.  This comes after Oregon increased the gas tax 5% last year.
