Memorial service held for fallen officer Sgt. Goodding

by NW Spotlight

The memorial for Seaside police officer Sgt. Jason Goodding was held yesterday at the Seaside Convention Center. Sgt. Goodding was killed in the line of duty on Friday, February 5, 2016.

According to the Officer Down Memorial Page, a total of 10 police officers in the U.S. have been killed in the line of duty so far in 2016 – six of those in the week since Sgt. Goodding was killed.

There were 130 line of duty deaths in 2015 – that’s one police officer who died in the line of duty every 2.8 days.

The Seaside Police Department has provided information on how to donate to support Sgt. Goodding’s family – either through any U.S. Bank branch anywhere in the U.S. or by going to the Oregon Fallen Badge Foundation website.
