Italy comparison chart shows quarantine works

I am re-posting this chart because it shows how our current lock-down can work.

Here is the story: When the virus first hit, communities in the Italian Lodi province (county) reacted swiftly and strongly to enact lock-downs and limit social interactions. This was very different than the rest of Italy and neighboring the Bergamo province where reaction was slower. When citizens were told not to go to restaurants and bars they went anyways in defiance of the order. Now Italy’s death toll has surpassed 800 people dying in a single day.

Both provinces experienced the surge at the same time but they diverged after each took different measures.

Although there are numerous complex factors behind this story, it however serve as a small hopeful sign that social distancing measures appear to be working.
