Oregon among last to open, first to tax

At one point this month the New York Times rated Oregon as the last three states to fully re-open.

At the same time, businesses are lagging behind, the Legislature will be debating a cell-phone tax this week and the tri-county METRO government is planning a multi-billion dollar transportation tax. This tax debate comes off the heals of METRO’s quarter billion income and business tax they pushed through last month.

So Oregon is among the few states to actually pass taxes during the pandemic.

We hope you can call your lawmaker (1-800-332-2313) to oppose the cell-tax (LC-39) that is expected to be debated and voted on this week.
