Remembering Selma Pierce

Well known Salem-area community leader, twice Republican House candidate and wife of former 2016 (and 2020) governor candidate (Bud Pierce) Selma Pierce died in a car crash this week.

Selma Pierce, the glue of the Pierce family, an angel of a person , the only woman that I have ever loved, died this evening in a sudden and tragic accident. We cannot believe that she has left us, but we are comforted in the knowledge that she is with God, and we will see her again.

The daughter of an immigrant Chinese family, she studied in the University of California higher education system, trained to become a dentist, married a doctor, moved to Salem and raised two children.Their financial prosperity allowed them to donate countless hours and money to a long list of charitable causes, including Family Building Blocks, Liberty House, Oregon Health & Science University, American Cancer Society, Oregon League of Minority Voters, Union Gospel Mission, Kroc Center, Western Oregon University, Medical Teams International, Salem Leadership Foundation, Oregon Community Foundation, United Way and Assistance League.
