At the end of 2020 Portland had logged around 900 shootings, more than double from the previous year of 393 shootings.
The City was hit with its 53rd homicide victim as a result of these shootings.
These shootings come as a direct result of Portland slashing and defunding their police budget by 12 million this summer. That cut police staff positions by nearly 100 people and eliminated their gun task force.
