Gov. Kate Brown warned during a Friday news conference, “It’s clear that in Oregon and across the country, the fourth surge of the virus is at our doorstep,” and noted that cases are up 28% from the week prior and during one ten day period cases were up 48%.

The Oregonian notes, “…restrictions are set to tighten automatically at the county level if per capita cases or test positivity rates climb above established benchmarks. When asked if she was considering more restrictive measures, Brown said she was instead relying on the continued rollout of the highly effective vaccines and she was asking Oregonians to be cautious on their own..”

Those county benchmarks will automatically trigger tighter restrictions and lockdown procedures if the virus continues to escalate.  The vaccine rollout works in our favor, but teh threat is still there and can Oregon handle another lockdown?
