Jessica George for HD 25 Press Release,

St. Paul, OR – Marion County resident Jessica George formally submitted paperwork to seek the appointment to serve out the remainder of Rep. Bill Post’s term in Oregon House District 25. HD 25 covers the communities of Newberg, St. Paul, and Keizer.

In the past George has worked as a member of legislative staff for both former Senators Ted Ferrioli (R-John Day) and her husband Senator Larry George (R-Sherwood). Jessica’s father is former State Senator Rod Johnson (R-Roseburg). Jessica George was recruited to run due to her experience as a staffer in the state Capitol, and with constituent services directly in HD 25 from 2007-2015.

Jessica and her husband, Larry, have three children (11, 9, and 7). In addition to being a mother, Jessica is a project manager for George Packing Company headquartered in Newberg, where the George family grows and processes Oregon hazelnuts.

“I have been an active Republican ever since I was in 3rd grade helping my dad knock doors, win – and flip – the Senate seat of then incoming Governor John Kitzhaber. I feel like I am prepared to help Republicans in a crucial year where Governor Brown has far exceeded any reasonable interpretation of executive authority.”

Jessica George is a resident of Marion County which makes up 2/3 of HD 25, but has very close connections to Newberg due to the George family businesses based there. George is also closely connected to the rural and agricultural portions of HD 25 as Jessica and Larry live on and operate a hazelnut farm located in St. Paul. Jessica is a conservative, and is a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Newberg. She is pro-life, 100% supportive of the 2nd Amendment, and strongly supports medical freedom.

TJ Reilly, President of the Oregon Small Business Association, said: “Nobody would maximize one year in office as much as Jessica will. I strongly urge the PCPs and the county commissioners to support her appointment.”

Matt Cyrus, President of the Oregon Family Farm Association, said: “Oregon needs friends of Oregon family farmers representing us. Jessica and her family are leaders in Oregon agriculture and she is exactly who we need at the state capitol.”

Jason Williams, President of the watchdog Taxpayers Association of Oregon, said: “I’m thrilled that Jessica answered our call for her to seek this appointment. It is rare to see someone so uniquely qualified seeking such an appointment, and we know she will serve HD 25 extremely well.”
Jessica George is already endorsed by Oregon Right to Life PAC, the Taxpayer Association of Oregon, the Oregon Family Farm Association, the Oregon Small Business Association, and the Oregon Sportsmen’s Association.

Jessica said, “Oregon is leading the nation in all the wrong things. I’d only serve for about one year, so my goal would be to make that time count. I’d give it everything I have.”
