DMV closing many locations this summer

The Corvallis Gazette Times is reporting that 10% of Dept. of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices will be closed this summer due to worker shortage and a statewide reorganization of offices.

This is unfortunate since Oregon DMV has been closed longer than the average state during the pandemic and then additionally suffered a computer crash that delayed the public for months from obtaining a simple appointment.

It is also unfortunate that DMV can’t find workers because Oregon government jobs have been the best paying during the pandemic as rated by pay increases.

And government jobs have suffered the worst job loss compared to other sectors.

Yet, Oregon DMV can’t keep their offices open.
