State GOP censures ex-chair over endorsement

By Oregon Campaign Watch

The Oregon Republican Party Executive Committee this week voted to censure former Oregon Republican Party State Chair (and former State Senator) Herman Baertschiger for his recent endorsement of unaffiliated Governor candidate Betsy Johnson (previously reported here).  The vote was unanimous.  The censure states that Baertschiger has been “removed as an Ex Officio member of the ORP Executive Committee, and no longer has privilege to attend meetings. Moving forward, the Oregon Republican Party will dissolve any connection whatsoever with Herman Baertschiger “

The censure stated that the “primary mission of the Oregon Republican Party is to elect Republicans who support the United States Constitution and share our values” and that Herman’s actions was in “direct opposition to Republicans values, the Republican Party Platform, the interests of Oregonians, and the Constitution”
