4 County Democrat leaders blast CD5 endorsement

By Oregon Campaign Watch,

Local Democratic Party leaders from Marion, Linn, Clackamas and Deschutes county along with 70 other Democratic voters criticized the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for endorsing Congressional candidate and sitting Oregon State Representative Janelle Bynum in the Democratic Primary in Congress seat #5 over candidate Jamie McLeod-Skinner who ran in 2020 and lost to Republican candidate Lori Chavez-DeRemer.

The Oregonian reports, “Democratic Party leaders in Marion, Linn, Clackamas and Deschutes counties say it should be left to Oregon voters to decide who will be the Democratic nominee. The party chairs in those counties, along with nearly 70 other local party members and voters, sent a letter Monday to U.S. Rep. Suzan DelBene, the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison and U.S. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries asking that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee not spend any money or resources in the primary race and “refrain from backing any candidate in an Oregon primary” in the future. “
