Why increase taxes for schools when Parkrose enrollment is down 13%?

Parkrose school is trying to pass measure #26-254 which would raise property taxes.

By one estimate, Parkrose enrollment is down nearly 13% since 2018. Politicians tell us we have to raise taxes if more students attend school … but … when enrollment plummets by double digits they still raise our taxes. It doesn’t make sense.

Why increase taxes for schools with measure 26-254 when they lowered graduation standards?

As The Oregonian noted, “Oregon high school students won’t have to prove basic mastery of reading, writing or math to graduate from high school … The vote went against the desires of dozens of Oregonians who submitted public comments insisting the standards should be reinstated” (1). Oregon became one of the states with the lowest standards in the entire nation. Why are we raising more taxes for less teaching?

Say no to MORE taxes to pay for FEWER students, LESS teaching.

The district should come back later with a smaller sized tax increase we can afford.

Vote No on Measure 26-254.
