Oops! Pro-tax group taxed away donors (100% layoffs)

Sometimes liberal tax-loving non-profits get what they want and it contributes to a ruined economy and a ruin to themselves.

The OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon non-profit just announced they are laying of all 9 of their employees due to, in part, declining business donations.

This group spent decades working to raise taxes and pushing Tri-met to offer more free transit stuff  — which of course required fare hikes and increases in the Metro area transit tax that businesses pay for. OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon pushed for 10-cent gas tax increase, a payroll tax (26-218) to pay for a costly train to a luxury mall (luckily it failed), and also one of the most punishing and unique taxes in America — a 1% sales tax on larger businesses to fund green projects.

OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon played a role in making the Portland-Metro area on the highest taxed places in the entire nation.   During one period this year, Portland was the #1 job loss city in America and the #1 business office vacancy city in America.  Congrats OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon you made Portland#1!!!!!!!!

As they lost donor funding so did similar non-profits.  Portland saw the closing of many favorite festivals and events because they could no longer find enough business sponsors like they did years ago.    (read article about closed festivals here)

Other non-profits like the Portland Art Museum and Portland Symphony simply went to the State Capitol for millions in bailout money.  The rest of the state taxpayers are bailing out Portland non-profits because the liberals chased away their businesses with their high taxes, red tape and crime wave created by de-funding police.

What liberals do not understand is that most businesses are in survival mode.   When a businesses becomes successful and prosperous they share it with the community through sponsoring events and donating to non-profits.   When you slam them with higher taxes you kill the businesses fighting to survive and you kill their budget to support the community.

We do not celebrate the downfall of OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon, we issue an alarm of how reckless and dangerous over-taxation can become.
