Sen. Jason Atkinson Press release 9/11/2007:

Atkinson to attend opening of “˜green’ car dealership on his electric bike

Portland, OR — On Wednesday, Senator Jason Atkinson (R-Central Point) will attend the grand opening of Ecomotion, Portland’s newest dealer in electric and low-emission cars. Atkinson will ride into the dealership at 3:30 pm on his electric bike to support the clean vision of Ecomotion.

“Renewable energy and renewable businesses are a passion of mine,” said Atkinson. “This is one of the things I love so much about Oregon: we have always been visionaries and leaders when it comes to stewardship of our air, water and forests. My electric bike was developed by a Southern Oregon friend of mine and I am excited to ride it to Oregon’s newest electric car dealership!”

Ecomotion, located at 1625 NE Sandy Boulevard, will house the country’s largest in-stock inventory of Zap electric cars. The dealership will also sell low-emission used cars as rated by the Environmental Protection Agency. Ecomotion is owned by Don Morisette, one of the Portland area’s largest home builders.

Atkinson has been a leader in conservation issues. Atkinson helped shepherd Senate Bill 838 through the legislature, setting goals for renewable energy in Oregon. He is also an avid cyclist and has served as a point man for cycling issues in the legislature. Atkinson has also been a champion for the care and preservation of Oregon’s state parks and the creation of the newest state park, the Oregon Captiol Mall.

Jason Atkinson was a 2006 candidate for governor in Oregon; he was elected to the Oregon
Legislature in 1998. Atkinson has developed a reputation for his work on the environment, education policy, and government accountability. He is a management consultant, motivational speaker and the author of “What We All Wish Politicians Understood.”
