The Oregon State Forester, Cal Mukumoto, has announced his resignation. This follows a December Special Session bailout of the agency, two top officers with workplace violations, and this week’s news of a business meeting at a luxury resort — $8,000+ to host five people.

Here are Kotek’s other agency scandals.

#1. Executive Branch: Four top official resign during the evolving scandal surrounding Kotek’s wife and assigning her a $100,000 public employee scheduler, office space and problems involving unlawful lobbying allegations.

#2.  DMV: Under Kotek’s DMV, the agency did not verify U.S. citizenship for over 50,000 new voters when they were enrolled during driver license applications.

Housing Department: In 2024, it was discovered that the Oregon Housing and Community Services Department erred nearly 30% of the time while distributing $426 million in emergency rental assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Oregon Health Authority: This agency got caught trying to hide their beer tax study from the publci and lawmakers because the study showed that beer taxes do not decrease drinking. The agency did share the information with pro-tax lobby making the whole project 100% political with our tax dollars.

Foster Care scandal: $22 million in legal fees to cover Oregon’s foster care disaster.

JUST THIS WEEK ALONE, Kotek had additional audit news involving improper spending on her wife and other agency officials, and Kotek had to extend the homeless emergency order in Oregon.
