Oregon is undergoing the largest private strike in our history with the recent Providence nurses strike involving thousands of nurses.  Their radio ad decides to demonize their CEO and lambasts his $14 million salary.

This is an interesting question.

Technically, this CEO pay is under what the average CEO pay (2018) of the top 350 firms in America at $17 million.

Providence is a $2 billion dollar company that handles over 50 hospitals and 1,000 clinics and medical-related businesses.  What should the pay be for such a massive company that handles such critical life-and-death decisions everyday?

The ever-progressive Ben and Jerry’s ice cream once tried to do a publicity stunt where they opened up and invited their new CEO position to the common man with common pay.  It backfired, and the company had to jack up their offering pay twice.

Is it productive for the nurses to attack their CEO in this very high-profile wage battle?

We will see.
