Last week there was a House Bill to cut Oregon’ sky high death tax (Estate tax), now there is a Senate bill (SB 405) version to cut the death tax (estate tax) that is up for a hearing this Wednesday.  Showing support and momentum on both Legislative chambers is critical to getting a death tax cut.   Senate Bill 405 raises the Oregon state estate tax exemption to the Federal level,

The Bill is sponsored by Oregon State Senator Fred Girod — a great tax cutting champion of Oregon families who are over-taxed.

Senate Bill 405 reads;” The Act would match the estate tax exemption to the federal amount.Provides that, for the estates of decedents dying on or after January 1, 2026, Oregon estate tax is not due unless the value of the Oregon taxable estate exceeds $13.61 million. Raises the threshold for the filing of an estate tax return to a gross estate valued at more than $13.61 million. Takes effect on the 91st day following adjournment sine die”
